About Me
I came to Christ as a young child and was raised in a strong, godly Christian family. Through the years (in a small curch in Muskego, Wisconsin) I watched my mom and dad serve for years in nearly every capacity. Early in my high school years I was employed by our small church as the custodian I enjoyed these wonderful years as God was preparing me for years of service ahead. In my senior year in high school, a godly business man in the church introduced me to the Moody Bible institute. He knew of my love for radio and electronics and he knew about Moody’s Radio courses. Three months later I entered Moody, and over the next 6 years I completed both the work for my Diploma in Liberal Arts with the Chicago City College and the work for a Bachelor of
Science in Broadcast Technology form Moody.
In 1978 God opened the door for another amazing experience. While working at Moody’s downtown campus Radio station, WMBI offered me the opportunity to work part time as well and live at the tower and broadcast station in Addison, Illinois. This was a 27 acre wonderland with a 500 ft tower and 100,000 watt transmitter literally 20 feet from our bedrooms. For 18 years I served there doing tower and transmitter maintenance as well as, yes, cutting the 27 acres of grass. Our 3 wonderful children grew up in a place that proclaimed the glory of God 24 hours a day. Susie and I count these years as the most cherished as a family and see Gods hand in this in, His blessings, as we served there.
Susie and I met during our time at Moody and married in 1973. In the spring of 1975 I started my full time ministry/employment at the Moody campus that lasted 21 years. My early years as a young technician offered vast opportunities to grow in technology and ministry philosophy. Some of my experiences at Moody include design and installation of the Torrey Gray sound system, Fitzwater Hall Audio and video studios (early black and white) as well as design and installation of the sound and lighting systems at Moody Church. Through the years I shared the technical direction for Founders Week, Pastors Conference, Candle Light Carols and Moody Week. Upon the completion of the Sweeting Center building and new video studios, God showed me it was time to move on.
I joined Ancha Electronics in 1996 as a Senior Project Engineer. My experience and skills grew immensely as I had the privilege of working in a large corporate market. I had opportunities to design and project management for companies like AMGEN, Allstate, The Wrigley Company, Great Plains/Microsoft Software and was involved with the Soldier Field renovation.
I truly believe God’s hand was in this as my last project with Ancha was at Medinah Baptist Church. God brought me to a unique position where as a church we could draw on the strength of a corporate audio/video contractor for critical needs. Like so many others volunteers in this MBC expansion project, I was able to donate my time in audio and video design and installation.
In the last years of my time with Ancha (now SPL), I was more and more aware of my real desire and God’s leading me back to a full-time ministry vocation.
As the Worship Center expansion project wrapped up, the needs at MBC became clear and defined. God opened the door and here I am now, enjoying my 5th year of serving God and His people at Medinah Baptist Church.
