Intersect
psalm 25:4-5
show me your ways, O LORD,
teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me,
for you are God my Savior,
and my hope is in you
all day long.
welcome to intersect
Intersect is a group of individuals that are in their mid-late 20’s and 30’s, single or married, that meet together every week to discover what God wants for their lives.
Our Vision is to know God, to develop an intimate relationship with Him, to grow together and to serve others. We will seek to accomplish our vision through doctrinally sound teaching emphasizing life application (ABF), strengthen our community through small groups and social activities and extend Gods love outside the community.
Our class consists of four key components:
Biblical Teaching
Community
Outreach
Small Group
biblical teaching
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All scripture is God-breathed and is usef
Intersect’s teaching on Sunday morning’s during the ABF hour will be doctrinally based with life application allowing us to grow as individuals and refine our growth in our small groups.
These studies are taught by individuals who have long standing, healthy, and Godly marriages and/or a solid theological background.
Examples of studies already covered are:
Biblical World View
God View on Worship
Evangelism
community
Hebrews 10:24 “ And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the day approaching.”
We plan on serving our community within ourselves as well as serving our church and beyond. We will also plan social events for our group with an open invitation to new people.
Examples of socials include:
Sand Volleyball
Navy Pier
Ravinia
Six Flags Great America
Our goal would be to welcome new non-believers into our class and ultimately the church.
small groups
Acts 2:46-47 “Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people.”
Our small groups will be designed to go beyond the Sunday morning teaching. It is a time when we will study God’s word in more detail, pray, and deepen friendships.
Our goal is to have small groups that will meet on a regular basis. The breakup of the groups has yet to be determined and will most likely be based on the needs of the group.
outreach
Galatians 6:2 “Carry each other’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
In Intersect we are dedicated to serving. We encourage and support those who want to serve and use their gifts in other areas of the church. In addition, special care is given to those who have fallen on hard times or who need an extra helping hand. For example, when a new addition to the family comes along, the class pitches in and drops off meals for the first and MOST IMPORTANT week of your parenting career.
Examples of Outreach include:
Greater Illinois Food Depository
CareNet
Pacific Garden Mission
