About Me
In early 1980 Jim received a publication from Greater Europe Mission. The words “We need teachers in Europe” caught his attention. Both Ruth and Jim had been considering missions earlier in their lives, but that day began the definite steps to apply, be accepted, and commissioned to serve with Greater Europe Mission at the Greek Bible Institute.
In 2010 Greek Bible Institute became the Greek Bible College (GrBC) as it received Greek government recognition to operate as a postsecondary school. The school’s mission and vision is: “to inspire, train, and equip servants of God in order to prepare them to assist in the building up of the body of Christ in Greece and throughout the world to the glory of God.” For this purpose the school offers in the Greek language a baccalaureate program and in English a one-year program (one year of college studies abroad with credits transferable to U.S. colleges) which is named the “Alpha Program.” The Alpha Program’s goal is to increase awareness of the spiritual needs in Greece for the purpose of enlisting prayer for Greece and with the hope that God would lead some students to return to Greece to help meet these needs.
Jim currently serves as registrar for the school, co-director of the Alpha program, teacher, and coordinator of the baccalaureate program. Ruth is part of the leadership team of the Women’s Bible Class that meets weekly in downtown Athens as well as serving on special committees in the church they attend.
